The Ice Box Canyon trail crosses open desert and then enters the canyon.
This trail is a good summer hike as the canyon is in the shade and quite cool.

Getting There
The Ice Box Canyon Trail is located in the Red Rock National Conservation Area about 15 miles west of Las Vegas, Nevada. Take exit 41B west off Interstate I15 onto W Charleston Boulevard, Route 159, and follow the signs for the Red Rock NCA.
To reach the Ice Box Canyon trailhead, drive 12.6 miles on the scenic loop to the Ice Box Parking lot beside the Scenic Loop Road.
The Trail
The trail starts at the Ice Box Canyon parking lot.
You cross open desert for about 0.5 miles to reach the canyon and then travel another 0.8 miles into the canyon.
The trail is very difficult as it is boulder strew with larger boulders as you approach the canyon. We turned back after going a short distance into the canyon.
