Note that as of December 12, 2016 the trail is blocked at the creek crossing due to a dam and flooding.
The Quail Creek Trail in the Red Cliffs Desert Reserve is a pleasant easy walk along Quail Creek and across desert terrain. The trail ends at the Anasazi Trail to the Anasazi archaeological site.
Along the route you will see the remains of the McMullin homestead, the remains of the 1959 movie set “They Came to Cordura”, and the restored Adams house.

If travelling north-east on Interstate I15, take exit 16 towards Hurricane and then turn left at the 2nd traffic light, 5300W, towards Quail Lake State Park and Reservoir. This road ends at the service road near Harrisburg. Turn right and then turn left on the marked Red Cliffs Desert Reserve Road which goes west under the interstate highway.
If travelling south-west on Interstate I15 take exit 23 into Leeds and turn left onto N Main Street. Continue through Leeds to a stop sign at the end of State Road 228. Veer left taking the service road to the marked Red Cliffs Desert Reserve Road and turn right going west under the interstate.
Just after going under I15 turn right on the gravel road and park in the White Reef parking lot.
From the parking lot travel 1/4 mile west on the White Reef Trail to the intersection of the Adams Trail. Turn left and follow the Adams Trail 1/8 mile down to Quail Creek and across the bridge to the junction of the Prospector Trail at the foot of the hill below the Adams house. The Adams Trail continues up the hill to the Adams House but turn right on the Prospector Trail for 1/8 mile to the junction of the Quail Creek Trail, a total of 1/2 mile from the parking lot.
To see the McMullin Homestead Ruins adjacent to the White Reef parking lot, take the McMullin Trail on the left just after crossing the horse gate from the parking lot. This trail goes to the ruins and then the Cordura Trail connects the McMullin Ruins and the Cordura Movie set crossing the Adams Trail a short distance along the Adams Trail from its junction with the White Reef Trail.
The Quail Creek Trail is 1 mile long connecting the Prospector Trail with the Anasazi Trail.
The Anasazi archaeological site is about 1/4 mile from the end of the Quail Creek Trail giving a total return distance from the parking lot to the archaeological site of 3.6 miles.
To shorten the route you could park at the Adams house but there is only parking for 1 car.
