Temple Quarry Trail, St George

The Temple Quarry Trail (Dugway) was built between 1871 and 1874 to access large lava rock on the south side of the Black Hill. This rock was needed for the foundation and basement walls of the St. George Temple, because this stone was impervious to the alkalai soil.

The trail to the quarry is easy but not overly interesting. It can be easily traveled in an hour.
